In the summer of 2011, Orrantia auditioned for the first season of The X Factor. Orrantia won the audition from YouTube and received four "yes" votes by the judges in the live auditions in Seattle. The audition was initially an individual artist, but at Hollywood Week, she was joined by three other female singers to form an ensemble.
